Technoloty News : 10,000 Electric Delivery Vehicles In USA for Amazon Online as of today.

Amazon’s 10,000 Rivian all-electric vans are delivering packages across the United States, the company revealed on Tuesday evening at its Delivering the Future conference.

Amazon, which has a stake Rivian, signed a deal in 2019 with the automaker to have at least 100,000 delivery vans powered by electricity on the road before 2030. The order is part Amazon’s pledge to become carbon-neutral by 2040.

Amazon began rolling out electric delivery vans by summer 2022. The majority of electric delivery vans in the U.S. are spread across 1,800 cities. Amazon began bringing electric delivery vans into Europe this summer, and announced plans to deploy over 300 vans in Germany.

Rivian produces or develops three vehicles, including the custom electric delivery van. The R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV are Rivian’s other two vehicles. Rivian announced earlier this month that it expects to manufacture 52,000 vehicles, including the vans, by the end the year.

The vehicles are built at Rivian’s factory in Normal Illinois and share many of the same features as today’s gas-powered models. The new EV vans are sleeker and have rounded edges. The real difference lies in the vans’ electric architecture and custom features. These include highway driving and traffic assistance features, exterior cameras which can provide a driver with a 360-degree digital display and surround taillights to improve braking visibility.

Amazon has launched a $2 billion fund as part of its climate pledge to invest in startups who fit within the company’s net-zero vision. Amazon has invested in a number of companies, including Redwood Materials, CarbonCure Technologies and Pachama.
